Greetings all! As Manager of the Customer Service team here at Squadron, I was thrilled to have the chance to Guest Author the blog this week. As a modeler myself, joining the group here at Squadron has been like a dream come true.
Not only am I surrounded by a treasure chest of model kits and supplies day in and day out….but I also get to meet some of the best people in the world on the telephone – my fellow modelers – who happen to also be our customers.
One of the many things I enjoy about working at Squadron is the fact that part of the company’s mission is to support our military through participation in organizations that help service men and women stationed all over the world. Currently, we are working with a group known as Airborne Angel Cadets.
This group gathers items to put into care packages that are sent to our soldiers around the globe. Not only does the company support them financially; we actually participate personally in the packing of these goodie boxes, including writing notes of encouragement.
On Saturday, August 6th, Airborne Angel Cadets of Texas held one of their annual “packing parties” whereby my wife and I were privileged to participate in the event representing Squadron (check me out in action in the video below!).
The day’s mission was to create as many soldier care packages as possible from donated goods, and we ended the day having boxed over 450 packages containing food and various toiletries.
These packages were then sent to troops who are on the front lines and in remote areas. I cannot begin to tell you how meaningful this act of service was to me.
Giving my time as a reflection of the enthusiasm the team here at Squadron has our fighting men and women was not only a big help getting these packages put together – but also makes a real statement about how much we really care.
Airborne Angel Cadets were featured at our EagleQuest event in June with a 50/50 fundraiser. The modeling community that attended really embraced the raffle with the winner kindly donating his ENTIRE winnings back to the group. Additionally, during the 4th of July weekend, Squadron also donated to Airborne Angel Cadets 5% of total sales generated during the annual weekend sale.
If you would like to help this worthy group out, you can either send a donation to Airborne Angel Cadets of Texas at P.O. Box 116691, Carrollton, TX 75011. You can also donate via credit card through their “click and pledge” account found online at www.airborneangelcadets.com.
At Squadron, we are a group of people that not only embrace the modeling hobby….but also the people that support our cause of freedom around the world with the military armament our models commemorate.
It is a really great thing to be a part of a company that does so much to not only build up this great hobby….but also the people that make that hobby possible. Hooray for the fighting forces of the USA!
